SGSL, LLC to Create 10 Jobs and $2.5 Million In Capital Investments
Blackshear, GA, February 21, 2017– The Pierce County Industrial Development and Building Authority announced the groundbreaking of South Georgia Short Line (SGSL), LLC, a rail storage company. In 2017, SGSL plans to complete 10,000 ft. of rail track for storage on 80 acres in the Pierce County Industrial Park, creating 10 new jobs. SGSL has purchased an additional 260 acres due to proximity to the CSX Rice Yard and the anticipated future growth of the Georgia Ports.
The company’s new facility will strengthen Pierce County’s growing economy, and the local workforce will meet the job demands. The newly created positions will include operations and customer service.
“Our top priority is meeting the needs of our clients. The proximity to the CSX Rice Yard will help us grow the business,” said Bill Udovich, President of SGSL, LLC. “Great location and awesome people to work with.”
Assistant Director at Georgia Department of Economic Development, Michelle Shaw supported the project from the very beginning, and Georgia Power Community and Economic Development Manager, Scott Purvis assisted Pierce County Industrial Development Authority with the project.
